Belgium: Flanders sees new PV installations almost double so far this year

Once a leading solar market, the Belgian macro-region of Flanders keeps showing signs of robust growth in new installations in the first five months of this year, after installing 103 MW of solar in 2016.

France adds 78 MW of PV capacity in Q1 2017

As of the end of March 2017, mainland France had 6,853 MW of installed PV power, while its overseas territories reached 367 MW. French cumulative PV capacity has surpassed 7.2 GW.

Solar in the Netherlands crosses 2 GW mark

Global installed PV capacity exceeds 300 GW, IEA PVPS

The world’s cumulative PV capacity had surpassed 303 GW at the of 2016, according to a report from IEA PVPS. Globally, solar power is now able to cover approximately 1.8% of power demand.

Sweden tops 140 MW of installed PV capacity

The Scandinavian country added only 13 MW of new PV systems in 2016. Around 52% of the cumulative capacity is represented by PV systems up to 20 kW.

Romania’s PV capacity grew by 70 MW in 2016

Romania’s solar market registered a slight drop in new installations in 2016. Approximately 70 MW was installed last year. This capacity is represented by MW-scale PV projects developed under the green certificate scheme launched in 2011.

France’s PV capacity tops 7.13 GW

French cumulative PV capacity has surpassed 7 GW. In 2016, however, the market registered a 62% decrease in new installations, with the figure coming in at 559 MW. PV plants over 250 kW covered almost two thirds of the new capacity installed last year.
