Two innovative new technologies with potential applications in solar were unveiled this week. Research teams across the world are looking at new way to boost solar’s stability by integrating with storage. Scientists in Australia and in China demonstrate their innovative steps toward achieving this.

German technology group Heraeus and U.S. company Materion Advanced Materials have announced the completion of the latter’s acquisition of the target materials business belonging to Heraeus.

The company took a significant hit in its Q4 results due to restructuring and impairments, as it shuts down lines and orders tools for the transition to its Series 6 modules.

The Australian supply deal sees the U.S. solar company supply 63 MW of thin film modules to the Kidston Solar project, while partnership with Turkish developer Zorlu will bring exposure to 26 selected markets.

A new mixed-use building complex being developed by Somerset Development will feature the installation of more than 3,200 solar skylights, which will generate electricity whilst naturally illuminating the complex.

The U.S.-headquartered producer of thin film modules collaborated with Thai renewable energy developer Prime Road Group to supply its modules to four separate solar farms in Thailand.
