At this week’s World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi Huawei launched its 1500V Smart PV Solution for the Middle East Africa (MEA) market. At yesterday’s launch event pv magazine interviewed Paul Pan, Huawei’s General Manager for the Smart PV Plant Business, Middle East & Africa, at the Huawei booth at WFES. Pan is responsible for over 70 countries in MEA, where Huawei is already present with offices serving its ICT customer base.

U.S. company Array Technologies and Indian EPC Sterling & Wilson were amongst the winners of the Middle East Solar Industry Association’s (MESIA) annual awards ceremony, which was presented at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2017 being held in Abu Dhabi.

BYD has announced plans for major expansion in the Middle East region, including the construction of a 200 MW PV power plant. The project is expected to feature a storage application and aims to raise the company’s profile in the region.

Speaking yesterday at an Abu Dhabi’s Sustainability Week (ADSW) event, Saudi Arabia’s energy, industry and mineral resources minister Khalid Al-Falih announced a new grand energy plan for the country.
