Analyze BESS: online diagnostics for safety, performance, and extended lifetimes

The important role large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) can play in electricity networks and as addition to PV arrays is becoming increasingly recognized. However, as BESS deployment has accelerated, a series of high-profile fires, instances of underperformance, and premature degradation can undermine the confidence of developers, investors, and regulators.

To overcome these challenges, digital tools have been developed, allowing remote monitoring, analysis and fault prediction. When deployed, online diagnosis can prevent serious issues before they develop and deliver longer-lived and safer batteries.

German-based software developer Accure is currently rolling out its online BESS diagnosis tools to battery project developers and asset owners, and has built up a track record in delivering enhanced battery performance and safety, already counting with 1GWh of battery systems under management.

Join this pv magazine Webinar, in partnership with Accure, to learn more about how online diagnosis can be deployed and preventative maintenance systems put in place. Kai-Philipp Kairies, CEO at Accure, will draw on real-world data and actions taken, to demonstrate the power of the technology.

Additionally, the webinar will include a presentation from the pv magazine editorial team, on a battery incident in Australia that have resulted in headline grabbing fires at a large scale BESS facility, and another in which an asset owner has been faced with costly litigation from regulators resulting from a failure to provide a contracted service.

With the large scale application of relatively new technologies, insurance can play an important role in mitigating a range of risks for developers and owners. However, such insurance policies can come at considerable cost. The webinar will also include insights as to how smart insurance products can be deployed, based on Opex reductions achieved through safety monitoring.

pv magazine Webinar content:

  • Presentation of Australian instances of high-profile, large scale BESS failures
  • Presentation of Accure BESS online diagnostics and case studies
  • Q&A

We encourage you to ask questions, which can be submitted beforehand or during the webinar through a chat window. Jonathan Gifford, Editor-in-Chief at pv magazine, will be the moderator of this webinar.

Registration for this pv magazine Webinar is free of charge.
