Presentation

Utility-scale solar + storage are hot topics as the energy storage industry is maturing and PV system developers and owners are looking for innovative approaches to achieve superior economics.

Battery energy storage has emerged as the dominant and rapidly expanding method of energy storage in a significant proportion of the world in recent years. In the US alone, the proportion of battery storage in the country’s energy storage capacity climbed from a mere 3% in 2017 to a substantial 36% in the first half of 2023. Battery systems go hand in hand with solar for both new installations and retrofits.

But not all PV +storage systems are equal. Energy storage systems can be AC- or DC-coupled, with each having their own benefits and considerations for implementation.

In this pv magazine Webinar, we will discuss a case study of Latin America’s (LATAM) largest solar+storage installation where two companies, Ampt and eks Energy, partnered to deliver an end-to-end power conversion solution using a fixed-voltage DC-coupled architecture.

In the first half of the case study, we’ll hear from Salvador Rodríguez, chief commercial officer at eks Energy, about the project developer’s goals, the power solution architecture and its advantages related to the inverter, battery converter, controls, and grid response. And in second half, Mark Kanjorski, vice president strategic marketing at Ampt, will detail the cost and performance advantages of the fixed-voltage DC-coupled PV+storage solution.

Join us to learn how this renewable energy power plant provides all the functionality and management capability of a traditional power plant.
