With construction scheduled to begin next year, the company said the project is its first utility scale solar deployment in Texas. It added that the facilities will help CPS Energy – with which it has a contract – to achieve a renewable energy target of 20 percent of total generation capacity.
"We are pleased to provide this long-term, renewable energy solution for our customers," said CPS Energy chief sustainability officer, Cris Eugster. "In addition to helping us meet our goal to provide 100 MW of solar generation by 2020, we're also looking to SunEdison to be a key partner in transforming San Antonio into a national hub for solar energy."
