Phoenix Solar to build PV park for Saudi oil company


The company's Oman subsidiary, Phoenix Solar L.L.C. is, alongside Naizak Global Engineering Systems, expected to design and build the ground-mounted PV plant by the end of this September. It will be located close to Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, near to where the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) is currently being built.

Phoenix was commissioned by Saudi Aramco after it carried out a PV testing field, which was designed to analyze different module technologies at the oil company’s headquarters in Dhahran.? ?

Commenting, Klaus Friedl, general manager of Phoenix Solar L.L.C. said: "The solar market in the Gulf region is still in its infancy. There is, however, a huge potential for solar power plants in Saudi Arabia. We are delighted to be able to build the largest ground-mounted plant in Saudi Arabia and will use our know-how to support the introduction of renewable energies into Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region to the best of our ability."
