Phoenix Solar to build PV park for Saudi oil company

The company’s Oman subsidiary, Phoenix Solar L.L.C. is, alongside Naizak Global Engineering Systems, expected to design and build the ground-mounted PV plant by the end of this September. It will be located close to Saudi Arabia¬ís capital, Riyadh, near to where the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) is currently being built.

Phoenix was commissioned by Saudi Aramco after it carried out a PV testing field, which was designed to analyze different module technologies at the oil company’s headquarters in Dhahran.? ?

Commenting, Klaus Friedl, general manager of Phoenix Solar L.L.C. said: "The solar market in the Gulf region is still in its infancy. There is, however, a huge potential for solar power plants in Saudi Arabia. We are delighted to be able to build the largest ground-mounted plant in Saudi Arabia and will use our know-how to support the introduction of renewable energies into Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region to the best of our ability."
