The financial sums involved were not disclosed. However, it has been said that the 250 MW Silver State South photovoltaic facility, when complete in May, 2017, will connect to the proposed Ivanpah Susbstation near the California-Nevada border. It will be located near Primm in Nevada.
Originally, the project was to be 400 MW. This figure has since been revised to 250 MW, however. Having failed to secure a U.S. Department of Interior loan, First Solar has reportedly said it would raise private financing for the project.
The thin film manufacturer is also working on another 50 MW photovoltaic project, called Silver State North. Construction on it began last October in the Ivanpah Valley, 40 miles south of Las Vegas.
