The Indian module manufacturer and EPC contractor commissioned the two 40 MW solar projects for Gujarat Industries Power (GIPCL). The installations are spread across 385 acres of land in the northwestern city of Charanka, according to an online statement. The grid-tied projects were developed under India's National Solar Mission Phase II Batch IV Scheme.
“Despite quite a few hurdles like floods and adverse weather conditions, we have been able to execute the project plan,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, managing director and CEO of Vikram Solar.
The Kolkata-based company’s 250,429 modules will generate 1.89 million GWh of electricity per year. It will provide O&M services to GIPCL for a period of 10 years from the date of commissioning.

In April, Vikram Solar completed 130 MW of PV capacity in Rajasthan. It built the two 65 MW arrays near the city of Bhadla for New Delhi-based power producer NTPC.
In June, Vikram Solar’s annual production capacity hit 1 GW. It aims to ramp up PV module output to 2 GW per year by 2020.
