California hits a new utility-scale solar peak output of 6.39 GW-AC

The leading U.S. state for solar has been blowing through records for peak solar output this month, as the state prepares for a new goal to get 50% of its power from renewable energy.

US: TEP to wait for 2016 rate case before attempting to modify net metering

The Arizona Corporation Commission has approved Tucson Electric Power’s motion to wait until its 2016 rate case to attempt to change the terms of net metering for solar customers. This comes two days after ACC approved a motion by APS to modify net metering outside a rate case.

France doubles large-scale PV solicitation to 800 MW

French authorities cite a large volume of bids and very low prices for the doubling of available capacity. This follows a doubling of capacity for a solicitation for mid-sized PV in July.

Taiwan's Motech secures US$197 million loan

Motech Industries Inc. has signed a three year loan agreement worth US$197 million. Existing debt will be repaid and working capital funded.

Znshine officially out of MIP

The European Commission has officially removed Chinese solar PV module manufacturer, Znshine from the EU minimum price (MIP) agreement. It has rejected calls for retroactive withdrawal, however.

Hörmann Group takes Innotech’s insolvent cell production over

The Hörmann Group has taken over ITS Halle Cell GmbH, a German subsidiary of the insolvent Norwegian group Innotech Solar AS. The newly-founded Hörmann ITS Cell GmbH has acquired 31 employees and the PV production site in Halle.

Adler, viamon pilot project sees theft protection installed in 18 MW PV park

Adler Solar and viamon have completed a joint pilot project in the U.K., which saw theft protection devices installed in an 18 MW solar PV park. The companies claim to have built the world’s first GPS-based safety concept for PV installations.

Natcore aims for 2016 production of silver-less solar cells; companies express interest

Natcore Technologies Inc. has said pilot demonstration of its silver-less solar PV cells is expected in early 2016, with production available later in the year, if successful. To date, four companies have expressed interest in the new technology.

JinkoSolar raises FY module shipment guidance

JinkoSolar has raised its full year solar PV module shipping guidance to 4 to 4.5 GW, and expects to grid connect up to 800 MW of new projects. Overall, the Chinese solar company has recorded a relatively strong Q2.
