Gestamp Solar, the photovoltaic divison of Gestamp Renewables, has closed a joint venture with the European investment fund of infrastructures which belongs to Barclays Italy, for a combine set of photovoltaic installations that operate in Italy for a total of 29 MW.
The solar Plant constructed by Gestamp Solar Italian branch in less than a year is located in the provinces of Lecce, Palermo, Enna and Siracusa and it is able to produce 44.000 MWh a year of clean energy, with over 135.000 solar panels installed. The electric energy produced will power 15,000 homes annually, avoiding 22.000 tons per year of CO2.
This operation becomes one of the most important since the beginning of the diffusion of the photovoltaic energy in Italy and establishes Gestamp Solar among the primary operators of the sector.
Particularly, Gestamp Solar Italy has operated as "Turn Key Operator", dealing with the design, planning and the development of the plants, actually managing the whole supply chain of the production, from the juridical administrative authorization procedures to the construction and operation of the plants, becoming among the most representative of the market.
Roberto Pasqua, Country Manager of Gestamp Solar Italy declared in the day of the signature: "The realization of these plants and the Joint Venture with a fund of such an importance as the Barclays European Infrastructure Italy follows the global target of Gestamp Solar as Turn Key Operator, becoming a leader of the photovoltaic sector. We are proud of contributing with this operation to a greater guardianship of the environment; in fact, with these plants Gestamp Solar reaches over 40 MW installed in Italy, avoiding over 30.000 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere every year. Within the end of the 2011 Gestamp Solar has set as a goal to install over 100MW, therefore becoming one of the most important Italian photovoltaic realities.
