Measure and test the optical properties of photovoltaic cell and module designs using a SPECTRAL EVOLUTION spectroradiometer and RT sphere.

The SPECTRAL EVOLUTION RT (reflectance/transmittance) sphere measures reflectance and transmittance. When used with a portable lab spectroradiometer like the SR-4500, you can test the optical properties of different photovoltaic cell and module designs and coatings. You will be able to see the effects of different materials, coatings, and textures.

To achieve the highest rate of film absorption and subsequent conversion from sunlight to useable electrical energy, different treatments are used including anti-reflective coatings. The effectiveness of these treatments can be measured and compared by measuring a sample’s reflectance, transmittance and absorption using the portable six inch RT sphere with an SR-4500 portable spectroradiometer.

The RT sphere allows you to collect all diffuse light reflected from a sample – measuring total hemispherical reflectance. You can measure reflectance and transmittance and calculate absorption. A specular light trap is included for specular subtraction. The RT sphere is connected to the SR-4500 via an SMA-905 connector. Power can be supplied either independently or form the SR-4500. Sample holders are easy to use and secure for reflectance and transmittance measurements.

The SR-4500 is a high resolution, high sensitivity lab spectroradiometer covering the full UV/VIS/NIR range from 350-2500nm. It uses three thermoelectrically cooled photodiode arrays (one silicon and two InGaAs) to provide the ultimate in performance stability. Like all our spectroradiometers, the SR-4500 includes DARWin SP Data Acquisition software with a pull down menu for solar simulator classification to AM1.0 and AM1.5 and an energy measurement window that calculates integrated radiance or irradiance over a user-determined wavelength band for the spectra of interest. All spectra and associated data are saved as ASCII files for use with third party analysis software.

Sunworks Reduces Install Time by 50% With Software and Procedural Advancements

Sunworks, a leading provider of solar power solutions, announced that its Residential Operations & Installation Division has effectively reduced installation time by 50% from Q1 to Q2 through a series of software and procedural advancements.
As a vertically integrated company, Sunworks provides its customers with a 100% process facilitation experience from sale through installation. Its mission as a company is to not only provide customers with the best value and experience possible, but also to continue improving efficiency in operations so that the customer is able to receive a faster return on investment. The reduction in installation time is beneficial for Sunworks and shareholders as well, because the Company is now able to collect residential revenue in half the amount of time.
In Q1 Sunworks’ installation time from beginning of sale to end of system completion was 87 days. Looking ahead, in Q2 the company’s Residential installation time is now 38 days. This dramatic improvement in operational efficiency is due to the implementation of the Company’s proprietary software system. Sunworks’ software platform is now fully integrated with the Operations & Installation Division.
"This intelligent tool allows Sunworks to monitor and track the solar installation process more effectively from start to finish," said Abe Emard, Sunworks’ Chief Operating Officer. "We are now able to communicate with customers more proficiently, monitor materials being used, and make sure all equipment arrives on the job when it’s supposed to. This tool also helps the sales process run as seamlessly as possible, with a more accurate system proposal for customers and fewer design rejections from the building department."
"Our residential operations team is always looking for ways to improve customer experience and make our organization more efficient," said Emil Beitpolous, President of Residential Solar at Sunworks, Inc. "The new Sunworks proprietary software improvement is doing just that. With our Operations time cut in half, we are seeing our install crews completing multiple jobs in one day. This increase in speed has positioned us to be on track for exceeding our targets in residential revenue this year."
Sunworks reiterates its 2016 revenue guidance of $100 million and profitable operations.
Emard concluded, "The progress that we are making in residential operations is consistent with our key principles of putting our customer first and providing the customer with the best possible value."

Intersolar Europe: Renewable energy on the advance worldwide

Investment volumes around the world in renewable energy are for the first time higher than fossil-based energy sources. This is what current findings by the Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) research institute are showing. The attractiveness of renewables as a long-term investment option is continuously growing, due to the current favourable prices for photovoltaic systems and wind turbines. The growing demand is also apparent at Intersolar Europe: Around 40,000 visitors are expected at the world’s leading specialist trade fair for the solar industry and its partners.
There is for the first time greater investment around the world in renewable energy than in fossil-based energies. Despite lower prices for fossil-based energy sources, investments in renewable energies enjoyed continuous growth between 2004 and 2015. In 2015, global investments in renewables reached an amount of USD 329 billion, overtaking fossil-based energies which attained a volume of USD 253 billion.
Attractive for new investors: Low prices for renewables
The reason for the surge in investments is the costs: Prices for photovoltaic modules have dropped since 2008 by around 80 percent, and for wind turbines by around 50 percent. Large photovoltaic power stations are particularly competitive in the power range from 60 MW, with electricity generation costs between 0.05 and 0.08 USD/kWh. Although prices for fossil-based energies also sank between 2014 and 2016, the G7’s decision in 2015 to decarbonize the energy sector in the G7 countries by 2050 will necessitate a realignment in the area of climate protection. Renewables are therefore a safe and sustainable investment option.
Intersolar Europe 2016
The growth in new investments in renewable energies shows clearly that energy trends are moving in the direction of renewables. This development also gives rise to a demand for storage technologies and energy management solutions. Over 1,000 exhibitors will be presenting their innovations in renewable energy, grid integration, energy storage, intelligent energy consumption and energy management at Intersolar Europe 2016. The main focus will not only be on solar energy, but also on renewable energy supply as a complete system.

XsunX, Inc. Investment Into New Market Segment Results in an Immediate Increase for New Solar Canopy Estimates and Sales

XsunX, Inc., a leading solar and energy saving technologies provider, announced on May 17 that the Company’s recent investments into its line of commercial solar carports and canopies is developing a wave of interest, yielding a heightened number of requests for solar carport structure proposals. By enabling the Company to now serve clients looking to turn energy liabilities into energy assets through the diverse use of open areas, management prepares to enter a new and exciting phase of growth.
The Company had foreseen multiple use opportunities by commercial property owners for its carports, canopies, and awning structures that could allow the Company to broaden its appeal and revenue generating opportunities. A recent sale of a canopy to be placed over the exterior storage and work area of a manufacturing company underscored the Company’s anticipated diversity of applications and market interest for canopies.
"This is an enormous market opportunity which makes fabulous use of open space, solar energy, and most importantly, offers clients compelling renewable energy investment advantages for their capital. Being able to empower clients with a range of installation options, without substantial cost increases, greatly enhances the revenue generating potential of our territory. Our corporate vision, as carport and canopy applications gain popularity, shifts to the emergence of new and resourceful ways to put solar energy to use." stated Tom Djokovich, CEO of XsunX, Inc.
He continued: "This is a very exciting time for us. A recent proposal, in review with a commercial client, provided the option to add solar carport structures to reduce monthly utility costs by 85% versus 72% for a roof-top only system. And, most importantly, we were able to offer this client the same per watt pricing for the addition of a solar canopy as our roof-top only system. We believe this provides us a significant advantage in the marketplace."
Having recently completed its strategic changes resulting in substantial cost reductions for its solar canopies, and having revamped its corporate website, the Company plans to aggressively market its line of commercial solar canopies where the Company foresees the opportunity for substantial future revenues and growth.
