Argentina grants final approval for new distributed generation law

Under the new rules, which are expected to come into force in the first quarter of 2018, owners of residential and commercial PV systems will be allowed to sell excess power to the grid under a net metering mechanism.

Soltec provides trackers for Scatec’s 162 MW solar project in Brazil

Around 5,300 trackers will be installed at a plant that Scatec Solar has developed in the Brazilian state of Ceará. With this project, Soltec has supplied a total of 909 MW worth of trackers in the country, and 1.7 GW in Latin America.

Brazil’s BNDES offers new financing conditions for projects in upcoming auction

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has changed its loan committments, and will now cover 80% of the financing of all competing technologies, compared to the previous auctions, where this percentage was granted solely to solar. As in the previous auctions, financing will only be allocated to projects using locally-manufactured equipment.

According to a report on Brazil’s auctions for large-scale solar and renewable energy projects, published by local consultancy company Greener, around 880 MW of PV projects selected in auctions are expected to become operational by the end of this year, while another 1.29 GW have good chances of being completed in 2018.
