Mexico postpones RE auction by a month

The country’s fourth long-term power auction, originally scheduled for November, will now be held on December 18. The preliminary call for the auction was made in March.

Colombia postpones RE auction

Originally scheduled to be held on Jan. 2, the auction has been delayed to an unspecified date in the third quarter of next year. Colombia’s national mining and energy planning unit UPME has also postponed the publication of final bidding terms at the request of interested parties.

Argentina issues secondary legislation for distributed generation

The new decree, which regulates the law for DG promulgated at the end of 2017, is intended to support distributed generation of renewable energy sources under net metering. The fund for DG, though, has shrunk by half in value thanks to currency depreciation.

Enel begins work on 475 MW solar plant in Brazil

Enel will invest around 1,400 million BRL ($390 million) in the construction of the São Gonçalo solar plant, located in the state of Piauí. The 475 MW project is currently the largest PV plant under construction in South America.

Brazilian state of Ceará begins tender for up to 45 MW of solar

The state’s Secretary of Resources intends now to conduct feasibility studies for a series of projects of up to 5 MW, which will provide local state-owned utilities Water Resources Management Company and the Water and Sewage Company with electricity.
