The window for submitting applications to participate in Greece’s forthcoming solar PV and wind tenders in July has expired and Greece’s regulator has announced the number of applications it has received.

Selected wind and power plants will supply electricity to the Brazilian utility under a 20-year PPA, starting from 2022.

Only a third of the projects, however, will reach the auction’s final phase, as the Russian government announced last year it would allocate 829.94 MW of wind and only 150.2 MW of solar in this round of bids.

In a conversation with pv magazine, Mouloud Bakli, president of the Algerian solar energy association, Club Energia (branch of FCE), says that multiple solar pipelines are set to be restarted by the Algerian government. Furthermore, two new tenders, for Independent Power Producer, and solar hybrid power, projects, will be issued by the end of Q2 2018. For all of these plans, local content requirement rules will apply. The existing local PV module industry, on the other hand, is expected to reach a combined annual capacity of 550 MW by the end of the year, while several manufacturers of mounting structures, cables, solar glass and junction boxes are already operating in the market.

The Danish government has released a new energy policy, which aims, among other things, to create more competition among clean energy technologies, and reduce the average level of support to renewables to 0.10 DKK (US$0.016)/kWh.

The project, to be developed in the province of San Juan, was selected by the Argentinean government in the second auction round (Ronda 1.5) of the RenovAr program for large-scale renewable energy projects.

Through the tender, the Algerian government aims to deploy 50 MW of renewable energy generation capacity in the south of the country – where local power utility, Sonelgaz is currently still relying on diesel generators for electricity production – and another 100 MW to 120 MW at other unspecified locations.

The auction is intended to replace the loss of the concessions for four hydropower plants, which represented 30% of the company’s power generation capacity. Selected projects will be granted a 20-year PPA.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which is now assisting the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the tendering of two solar PV projects, is seeking consultants to help the country’s transition from FITs to auctions.

32 to 0 for solar PV – that’s the result of the first technology-neutral tender. The average final price of €0.0467 per kWh was slightly above the solar-only-tender held in February.
