Donations of cash and solar equipment have thrown a lifeline to schools, hospitals, and communities in Ukraine but the country needs much more, including long-term backing for the recovery of its industry, reports Ian Skarytovsky.

The Global Solar Council (GSC) held its general assembly at last week’s Solar Power International (SPI) in California, where it announced new board members and said it will work towards crafting a unified message for the solar industry. All five working committees of the council are expected to contribute to this new task.

According to the German solar trade association, BSW-Solar the number of energy storage systems in Germany is set to double in two years. Already, politicians recognize the increasing relevance storage has, in light of the progressing energy transition.

According to analysis from Fraunhofer ISE, PV was almost on par with nuclear power in Germany in the previous month. PV systems installed in Germany generated the record volume of 5.57 terawatt hours.

According to the German solar industry association (BSW-Solar) the prices for large and small PV storage systems have fallen by 50 respectively 40 percent. This growing market is dominated by Sonnen, Senec and LG Chem, as an analysis by EuPD Research shows.

According to the business climate index of German solar association BSW, the order intake of PV developers is significantly increasing thanks to improved financing conditions and more attractive yields.
