Atamostec, a private-public initiative supported by Chile’s government-run Production Development Corp. and several industrial partners, has developed a new module. The team claims that the bifacial panel offers an additional annual average gain of 11% compared to monofacial PERC modules with the same cell technology.

Chilean energy provider aims to build 788 MW solar park

Colbún has applied for approval to build a 788 MW solar project in Chile’s northern region of Antofagasta.

Chile to hold new energy auction in June

According to the bidding terms published by the National Energy Commission, project proposals may be submitted by June 11 and the results will be announced on June 19. Successful bidders will secure a 15-year power supply deal and some 5.6 TWh of electricity is expected to be generated annually as a result of the new capacity.

Power deal signed for 230 MW solar plant in Chile

Atlas Renewable Energies has agreed to provide the Chilean unit of French energy giant Engie with 550 GWh annually for 15 years. The electricity will be supplied by the Sol del Desierto project Atlas is building in northern Chile.

Chile to issue $1.5 billion green bond

The funds will be used for renewable energy facilities and projects associated with the bond have already obtained Climate Bond Initiative certification.

Solarpack posts strong Q1 revenue as it chips away at global backlog

The Spanish developer’s operating revenues reached €12.5 million in the first quarter of 2019, up roughly 35% from the preceding three-month period. EBITDA stood at €4.5 million, up 14% from the fourth quarter of 2018, suggesting that the company has been moving from strength to strength since listing its shares in December.

The Chinese manufacturer has signed an agreement with Enel Green Power Chile to supply its 1500 Vdc central inverters to a PV plant at Copiapó, the largest to be built in the country to date.

Chile may change payment scheme for small solar parks

The government is planning to replace the price offered to PV projects that have a capacity of 3-9 MW with hourly tariffs. Solar association Acesol agrees with some of the suggestions but rejects the proposed tariff change. The current system has been the main market driver for Chilean PV for the last two years.

Germany’s KFW finances 123 MW Chile project selected in 2016 auction

The plant is being built by Spanish developer Solarpack in the Atacama desert. The project was selected in an energy auction held by the Chilean government in 2016. At the time, Solarpack’s bid of $29.1/MWh was a record low for solar.
