Researchers at ETH Zürich have published a paper illustrating the potential for distributed energy systems with solar at their heart, as a replacement for the current centralized energy system.

Yingli Green Energy’s net loss widened to RMB 2.3 billion ($354.9 million) in the three months to the end of September, from just RMB 335.4 million a year earlier, as its PV module shipments fell roughly 48% from the preceding quarter to 597.7 MW.

Overall, Brazil’s total distributed renewable energy generation has topped 200 MW.

Under the new rules, which are expected to come into force in the first quarter of 2018, owners of residential and commercial PV systems will be allowed to sell excess power to the grid under a net metering mechanism.

The government of the Indian state decided to cancel an auction held Jan-Feb 2017, as developers rejected offer to reduce tariff bid of INR 4.40 ($0.07)/kWh.

The bill, which will now have to be approved by the Senate, is intended to introduce a net metering scheme for residential and commercial PV.

The new law is expected to improve the current regulation and to ensure the legal certainty of future investments in solar distributed generation.
