The nation’s largest solar plant – of 54 MW – has achieved financial close and tenders for plants exceeding 100 MW are in the pipeline

The French energy giant and the German storage specialist will begin offering a combined solar-plus-storage solution for self-consumption on the residential French market.

The French energy giant will use blockchain technology to certify the green energy used in its manufacturing process in France by U.S.-based chemical company, Air Products. Through the software platform for digital assets, Engie hopes to transform its customer-supplier relationship.

The French energy giant will now build a solar PV power plant in Tauba, central Senegal, which will sell power at €0.0380 per kWh, while a second plant selling electricity at €0.0398 per kWh will be constructed in Kahone.

Engie has become partner of the solar and hydrogen-propelled catamaran, Energy Observer, while Total has become the founding partner of the Cathay Smart Energy Fund in China.

Panel discussion at Energy Storage Europe tackled the issue of whether the best way for keeping the lights on as economies around the world grow is to extend the grid network or add energy storage, and found that the best solution lies somewhere in between.

French President, Emmanuel Macron, and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi both inaugurated Engie’s 75 MW PV plant on March 12, 2018, in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. On the occasion, France-based Engie also announced the status of another two PV, and two wind projects.
