Netherlands updates grid congestion map
Netbeheer Nederland has provided a new map for grid congested areas warning that grid-connection issues may also arise in less problematic areas. Solar, in particular, is claimed to be responsible for increasing grid-constraints.
Developers submit 4.1 GW of PV projects for first 2021 round of Dutch SDE++ program
The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy is now reviewing 54,109 renewable energy projects totaling 5.17 GW in the first round of the SDE+ program for 2021. Solar accounts for around 80% of the total submitted capacity.

Major fire at solar-powered warehouse in the Netherlands raises concerns among nearby residents
Pieces of solar panels were found in an area of several kilometers around the warehouse. The local municipality has urged farmers to prevent livestock from eating the fragments. An expert on fires in PV arrays, however, told pv magazine that these fragments are not dangerous for the animals.
Construction begins on Europe’s largest floating PV plant
The plant is being built by Dutch developer Groenleven on a former sand extraction lake in the northern Netherlands. The company’s project manager for floating PV, Willem Biesheuvel, told pv magazine about its approach to deploying floating arrays always with a west-east orientation, which he claims ensures more stability and resistance to wind and waves.
Dutch farmers left with no connection for their PV arrays
Grid congestion issues are increasing in the Netherlands and several Dutch farmers claim to have remained without access to the grid despite having completed their rooftop arrays.
