The new rules are expected to come into force in the first half of this year. PV systems ranging in size from 3 kW to 10 kW will be entitled to have access to the scheme.

Under the Qualiwatt program, homeowners operating a rooftop PV system of up to 10 KW are entitled to have a deduction on their power bill that is proportionate to the household income.

Solar had the largest share in the final procurement round, with PV developers securing 382 of the 390 assigned feed-in tariff (FIT) contracts. Around 35% of the offered contracts are projects in indigenous communities.

Nearly two-thirds of all solar storage systems sold in Germany come from these four suppliers. According to EuPD Research, about 16,800 photovoltaic storage systems were sold in the country in the first half of the year. Falling prices and an attractive rooftop market are driving demand upwards.

The Brazilian government said it is planning to issue a decree to include the installation of rooftop PV arrays in all new buildings erected under the program by the end of 2017.

The Middle Eastern country has so far mainly supported large-scale projects. The new rules, which will apply to projects not exceeding 1 MW, will come into force in mid-2018.

Canada’s largest and northernmost province is set to launch net metering for residential customers.

The French cable maker Nexans has installed a 600 kW rooftop PV array on the factory of its Lebanese subsidiary Liban Cables. The installation if the first project completed under Lebanon’s Small Decentralized Renewable Energy Power Generation scheme.

Around 2 MW of PV systems up to 5 kW are expected to be installed in the archipelago through the new scheme.

The new provisions will come into force in the fall. Renewable energy associations and organizations ask for improvements in order to make the scheme really attractive.
