Norwegian hydropower company Statkraft has revealed more details of its solar-storage-wind-gas network. Previously announced plans to potentially double capacity this summer were not mentioned in the update.

The virtual facility is monitoring approximately 1 GW of combined wind, solar, storage and flexible gas engines in the U.K. and its capacity may double in the summer. The energy managed by the plant is being sold on the British energy market.

The Norwegian renewable energy company cited rising prices, cost reduction plans and lucrative transactions as the main reason for its positive update. The average Nordic energy price in the quarter was €47.7/MWh, an increase of 56% from the same period a year earlier.

Norway’s state-owned hydropower and wind company intends to deploy a 2 MW floating installation at its 72 MW hydropower plant in Albania’s Elbasan district.

Three days before the end of the year, Baywa re not only announced the completion of a 175 MW subsidy-free solar power plant – said to be the first of this size in Europe – but also that it had been sold. Norway’s state-owned hydropower and wind company plans to invest around NOK 10 billion (US$1.23 billion) in wind and solar between 2019 and 2025.
