High performance at scale with HJT

Mainstream PV’s switch to n-type is gathering pace in 2022, and we are already seeing modules based on heterojunction (HJT) and other n-type architectures roll off production lines in increasing numbers. As these modules are deployed in a wider range of projects, the whole industry is keen to see new insight from the operations side. In this pv magazine Webinar, we take a closer look at the technology behind Huasun’s new HJT module series. And we’ll hear from expert project engineers about the benefits and possibilities of working in the field with this new generation of PV modules.

High performance at scale with HJT

For a long time, higher production costs meant that heterojunction (HJT) technology was confined to a few “premium” module producers, primarily in the rooftop segment. In 2022, however, new innovations and a focus on cost reduction mean that HJT is making major moves toward the mainstream.

China’s Huasun is among the manufacturers bringing heterojunction modules to the large-scale market this year. During this pv magazine Webinar, together with Huasan we will share details of the technology behind its latest module series, and its pathway to lowering costs and reaching even higher performance levels.

Wang Wenjing, Huasun’s chief technology officer, will take us through the features of the HJT module and how these bring about an advantage in performance when compared with the p-type PERC modules that currently dominate the market. And we’ll also hear from Matthew Jin, GM of sales center at Huasun about the company’s approach to the European market and the availability of its modules amid the recent supply chain turmoil, that has left certain PV products difficult to come by.

Finally, we examine the way buyers in Europe’s project segment are experiencing this first wave of high efficiency HJT products, with insight from Dr. Djaber Berrian, PV Innovation and Design Engineer at Belectric, on how the reported advantages of n-type modules play out in the field, and why choosing these over the more established PERC products is increasingly an easy decision for buyers.
