Located in Dhahran, the 10 megawatt photovoltaic carport system is being built atop the recently established North Park offices of Saudi Aramco in Dhahran. When completed, it will cover all of the office’s 4,500 parking spaces.

According to the parties involved, over 120,000 CIS (Copper Indium Selenide) photovoltaic modules will be installed. As was announced last October, Japanese company Solar Frontier will supply them. The project is expected to be finished and connected to the public grid by the end of 2011.

Belectric says it was awarded the project by the Saudi Arabia based company Al Yamama. It adds that it and Sun & Life intend to enhance their cooperation to a full scale joint venture, whch involves the engineering, procurement and construction of solar power plants, and the manufacturing of balance of system components in Saudi Arabia.
