The electric boat house in Heeg, Netherlands, is actually a warehouse of sorts for electric boats, where repair and recharging can take place. The boathouse has 72 solar photovoltaic panels that provide approximately 11,072 kilowatt hours annually, enough to charge 1,385 electric boats.The black solar modules occupy more than 91 square meters.
The unique design was envisioned and executed by Groosman Partners. The roof surface was designed to incline south to provide the optimum angle for solar energy generation. Besides the use of solar energy, the house is also designed to collect rainwater with which the boats are washed.
