Convert Italia and Solaria complete 2 MW LCPV plant

Convert Italia and Solaria Corporation have completed work on a two megawatt (MW) low concentrating photovoltaic (LCPV) power plant in Puglia, Italy. It is thought to be the world’s largest.

The plant, owned and operated by Convert Italia, took two months to come online. It is comprised of Convert Italia’s MX1 horizontal tracking system and Solaria’s LCPV modules.
According to a spokesperson, Solaria’s proprietary cell multiplication technology enables high efficiency modules to use less than half the silicon of traditional photovoltaic modules.
Convert Italia and Solaria are currently working on two further LCPV plants. The spokesperson declined to provide any further details.
