30 MW PV plant planned for Puerto Rico

According to a statement released, Western Wind and Lord Electric will use 20 1.5 MW Equinox Prism Platforms, which comprise factory-integrated step-up transformers, MV disconnect switches, and power conversion electronics, in what is expected to be the second biggest plant of its kind in the territory when complete.

A spokesperson for Western Wind and Lord Electric additionally told pv magazine that work will begin on the plant, to be located in Yabucoa, as soon as financial close has been reached with the banks, which is "expected in a week or two". Lord Electric has been named the prime contractor.

They added that all necessary permits have been secured and that the project will cost between $140 million and $150 million. It is expected come online next March.
