Renewables-linked PPA prices have shot up nearly 30% in a year, especially due to the war in Ukraine, according to the latest Levelten Energy report.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport in Madrid will open a new 120 MW PV plant as part of a bigger, €350 million ($380.8 million) solar deployment plan.

EDPR, Finerge, Voltalia and Endesa were among the winners of Portugal’s latest renewables procurement exercise, in which 163 MW of floating PV capacity was allocated.

Portuguese utility EDP has won the largest project in Portugal’s latest procurement exercise. It has agreed to pay –€4(–$4.39)/MWh for a 15-year contract, but with a 30-year grid connection for the floating array and other renewables projects.

The measures include a regulatory framework for floating PV; new rules for renewable gas pipelines, such as hydrogen infrastructure; and the release of 10% of grid access capacity to absorb an additional 7GW under self-consumption.

Researchers in Spain have assembled a 10kW/20kWh vanadium redox flow demonstrator that paves the way for a 50kW battery.

The hybrid facility is planned to be built in central Portugal. It will consist of a 365MW PV unit, a 264MW wind farm, and 168MW of battery storage. It will also be connected to a 500kW electrolyzer that will be fed with surplus power that cannot be stored by the batteries.

The new laminator is suitable for any type of photovoltaic module and is specially designed for glass-glass modules and new applications such as building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and vehicle-integrated solar.

According to a study by CELA Clean Energy Latin America, there are currently approximately 10.7 GW of solar photovoltaic and wind projects under bilateral PPAs in the Latin American country.
