Canadian Solar has won a module supply agreement to provide 43 MW of PV modules to one of the largest solar power plant projects in Japan.

The company will supply approximately 168,300 pieces of its 60 cell high efficiency CS6P255P modules with power output of 255Wp for the project. It expects to begin delivering the modules in May, with the project slated for completion in February 2015.

Canadian Solar Chairman and CEO Shawn Qu said the deal to provide the company’s high efficiency modules for the project was "another significant milestone for Canadian Solar in this important market. This win further demonstrates our strong position as a global tier 1 solar module supplier with proven track record of delivery high efficiency and quality modules to large solar power projects across the globe."

Canadian Solar has seen bustling business in recent months. In January, the Ontario-based group was tapped by the U.S.' National Renewable Energy Corporation (NARENCO) to supply 25.3 MW worth of modules to four utility-scale solar PV projects in North Carolina.

Last month, Canadian Solar opened a module manufacturing facility developed with Samsung in London, Ontario. The module production line is part of a $5 billion renewables commitment to the government of Ontario by Samsung and four clean energy partners, including Canadian Solar and German inverter manufacturer SMA, to create 9,000 renewables jobs in the province.

Likewise in March, Canadian Solar sold an 8.5 MW PV plant in the town of Napanee, Ontario, to Canadian renewable energy group BluEarth in the first of four planned acquisitions that will eventually total 38.5 MW.
