Imec claims 22.8% efficiency for bifacial n-type PERT solar cell

The Belgian research institute has developed a bifacial n-PERT solar cell with a conversion efficiency of 22.8%. Imec researchers claim this cell has the potential for a cost-of-ownership at module level of less than $0.30/W.

Schmid and MacDermid 2017 Technology Highlights award winners

Schmid Group and MacDermid Enthone have been selected as pv magazine’s 2017 Technology Highlights award winners. In late March, the prize jury of industry experts met to select the winners, from a shortlist of eight innovative new PV production equipment and materials. Dozens of entries to the award were received from suppliers worldwide. Alongside the two winners, the jury selected Sinton Instruments as worthy of special commendation as having provided the ‘Technology to Watch’ in 2017.

Powerfield plans 300 MW module factory in the Netherlands

The Dutch solar company has launched a plan to build a 300 MW solar module manufacturing facility in Noord-Groningen, northern Netherlands. The factory is expected to begin manufacturing activities in 2018.
