Greece adds 300 MW of PV capacity in January

According to the latest figures, 300 MW of newly installed photovoltaic capacity was added to Greece’s grid in January. Meanwhile, new forecasts estimate 2.58 GW and 2.82 GW of cumulative capacity at the end of 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Inverter buyer survey: Storage seen as key

An inverter buyers survey conducted by IHS Inc. revealed that there is a growing need for energy storage in PV systems. More than 400 global PV inverter customers responded to the survey, of which a third expect to be using energy storage in over 40% of the PV systems they install by 2015.

Official: Chinese PV modules must register in EU

Yingli: Net losses hit $0.5 billion; expects to ship over 3 GW in 2013

2012 saw Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited record net losses totaling over US$0.5 billion – a slight decrease on 2011. Despite this, the company saw photovoltaic module shipments significantly increase. For 2013, it predicts shipments of between 3.2 to 3.3 GW.

Solar Frontier banks on higher Japanese sales

Solar Frontier expects to see a significant increase in its 2013 domestic sales on the back of the anticipated solar boom in Japan. Despite high utilization, however, the photovoltaic thin film module manufacturer is not planning to increase its 900 MW production capacity in the short term.
