The bankrupt Solyndra filed an anti-trust lawsuit against Suntech Power Holdings Company Ltd and other Chinese companies on October 11 in San Francisco, the U.S., accusing them of, among other issues, “running an illegal cartel”.

US Commerce votes in favor of duties for Chinese PV manufacturers

Meanwhile, in the CVD investigation, duties will be retroactively applied to all Chinese photovoltaic cell and module imports that entered the United States beginning December 3, 2011.

Germany: Environment Minister, Altmaier wants EEG overhaul

Peter Altmaier wants a “top to bottom” reform of Germany’s renewable energy law, or EEG. He sees the target for renewable energy sources rising to 40% by 2020, from the previous goal of 35%, but also seeks restrictions for renewables. Storage is to be anchored in the EEG.

Record Q4 PV inverter shipments predicted; China to overtake Germany

Global photovoltaic inverter shipments are expected to reach 8.6 GW in Q4 2012, thus representing the “largest final quarter ever recorded”. Despite this, falling inverter prices are predicted to dampen revenues. Meanwhile, in 2013, China is set to become the largest market.
