Japan’s Eurus Energy has entered the Chilean solar market by purchasing 18 MW (AC) of operational PV capacity in the South American country from Spanish renewables developer Grenergy Renovables.

Two solar farms, Ituverava (254 MW) and Nova Olinda (292 MW), have been put into operation, and hailed as South America’s largest solar parks.

Chinese module manufacturer Risen Energy announced that it has won the bidding to assist Cuba in the construction of a 3.9 MW PV project.

The solar facility, which will be built in the department of Santander, will be the second large-scale PV project developed by the Colombian renewable energy company in the country

The Argentinean province of Jujuy has issued a $210 million green bond which will co-finance a 300 MW solar project selected in the first round of the country’s program for large-scale renewables RenovAr.

The bill, which will now have to be approved by the Senate, is intended to introduce a net metering scheme for residential and commercial PV.

The two production facilities will be located in the northern province of Mendoza and will provide the modules for PV projects developed under the Renovar program.

The two projects have a capacity of 30 MW each and are located in the state of Piauí, in Brazil’s Northeast Region.

The new law is expected to improve the current regulation and to ensure the legal certainty of future investments in solar distributed generation.

The six projects are planned to be built in the states of Baja California, Sonora, Puebla and Chihuahua.
