Daqo New Energy posts $23 million net profit in Q1

The Chinese polysilicon producer’s net income attributable to shareholders reached $22.9 million in the first quarter of 2017, from just $8.3 million a year earlier.

REC Silicon posts US$57.5 million revenue for first quarter 2017

Quarterly financial results from Norwegian based polysilicon producer REC Silicon show a drop in revenue from $80.4 million the previous quarter. EBITDA for the quarter was $4.6 million, also down from $4.9 million in the previous quarter.

With a production output of 70,000 MT, Wacker was the largest producer of polysilicon last year. The previous market leader, Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon, has had technical problems with the commissioning of its fluidized-bed reactor technology.

QSTec begins manufacturing activities at polysilicon factory in Qatar

The Qatar-based polysilicon manufacturer has begun producing polysilicon at its factory in Doha. The facility has a current annual production capacity of 8,000 MT, but QSTec confirmed its plans to expand it to 50,000 MT.

Tongwei subsidiary announces joint venture with Longi

Sichuan Yonxiang Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Chinese industrial giants Tongwei, has announced the creation of a joint venture with Longi Green Energy Technology. The joint venture plans to build a new polysilicon production plant in Sichuan Province, China, with an annual capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes.

The Chinese polysilicon producer’s net profit rose sharply from $13 million a year earlier, as revenue jumped 25.9% year on year to $229.1 million.
