U.S. researchers claim to have added iron sulfate to anthraquinone disulfonic acid in a redox flow battery for the first time. The scientists said the combination could lead to inexpensive and more stable redox flow storage for just $54/kWh and said $66/kWh is already possible.

New organic redox flow battery aims for €0.05/kWh/cycle by 2030

An international research group led by CIC EnergiGUNE, a Spanish research center, is designing new redox organic flow batteries. The researchers claim the batteries will offer longer duration, as well as higher power and energy densities, in a more environmentally sustainable format. The European Commission provided €3.8 million in funding for the initiative.

Schmid delivers flow battery systems to customer in China

German equipment supplier, Schmid Group has announced the successful delivery and installation of three of its Everflow energy storage systems to a leading PV cell manufacturer in China. These are the first storage systems delivered to China by Schmid, and will be used in combination with large-scale PV projects.

US researchers develop new redox flow compound

A team of scientists from the U.S. University of Rochester has developed a compound, which it says could double the effectiveness of redox flow batteries, and “transform the energy storage landscape”.

Australia’s Redflow seeking AU$14.5m, shifts focus to lead-acid replacement market

Australian stock exchange-listed battery maker Redflow has announced a AU$14.5 million ($11.25 million) funding round, as the Brisbane-based company takes its manufacturing base offshore and turns its attention to a market “sweet-spot” including the off-grid, telecom, commercial and industrial sectors.
