Romania to hold first renewables tender in H1 2022

Romania will likely allocate several gigawatts of solar power through a range of procurement exercises over the next four years. According to the Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association, there are currently between 20 GW and 30 GW of large-scale renewable energy projects in various stages of development, with several hundred megawatts potentially set to go online this year.

Romania allocates $63.7 million for solar rebates in 2022

The scheme provides rebates for installations larger than 3 kW in size provided that the grant does not exceed RON20,000 for conventional projects and RON25,000 for projects in isolated areas.

Romanian coal provider has 725 MW of PV under development

CE Oltenia wants to build eight solar parks at three of its coal power plants and five of its coal mining sites by 2026. This new capacity should replace installed power from coal that the company wants to shut down over the next five years.

Romanian hydropower producer enters PV business with 45 MW ground-mounted project

The project will be built in Brăila county, southern Romania, at a cost of approximately $42.6 million. Hidroelectrica also wants to build several floating solar plants, totaling 5 MW, at some of its hydropower facilities.

Romanian energy company wants to build 111 MW solar park

The €103.5 million project is expected to be built by OMV Petrom with 175,214 solar panels with a power output of 485 W each, and 424 string inverters with a capacity of 185 kVA.

Change in ownership for 153 MW PV project in Romania

The 153 MW Ratesti PV project was acquired by Israel-based independent power producer Nofar Energy. The facility will be located in the Arges county, in southern Romania.

Romania preps auction scheme for large-scale solar, renewables

The scheme is expected to be issued within 18 months. According to law firm Schoenherr Romania, there is a growing appetite for large-scale solar projects in the country among investors.

Romania’s first module factory

Romanian manufacturer Karpat Solar has acquired a 100 MW panel production line from Spanish provider Mondragon. The manufacturing facility will be located in Transylvania.

Romania improves rebate scheme to speed up rooftop PV development

The Romanian government has changed the rules of the Casa Verde Fotovoltaice (green PV home) scheme to support residential solar installations under the country’s net metering regime. The new provisions improve the installation process and settlement of rebate payments.
