Ikea invests more in solar by the day

The Swedish furniture giant has said it will turn one of its Australian superstores into its first 100% renewables-powered solar+storage retail project. Australia is also home to the company’s first expansion of its retail solar offering, Solstråle.

Ikea to begin the sale of solar modules in Sweden

By 2025, the furniture giant plans to offer solar panels worldwide at its stores. The company is in negotiation with potential partners and a supplier for the sale of PV panels in Sweden, which is planned to start in the autumn.

Ikea’s solar offer in Germany criticized by consumer association

The Verbraucherzentrale NRW says advertising for the Solstråle solar system is misleading and has warned the furniture provider and its partner Solarcentury Microgen (Deutschland) GmbH it will begin legal action if the campaign is not changed.

Ikea begins online sale of PV residential module systems in Germany

This week, the Swedish furniture giant will begin offering its PV systems throughout Germany via the internet. The company’s “Solstrale” offer has been tested in five markets and Ikea has said it is “very satisfied” with the response.
