JinkoSolar formed a consortium with RWE subsidiary RWE Innogy to jointly participate in the Solar Photovoltaic Independent Power Project – Phase III tendered by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in the United Arab Emirates.
Having successfully pre-qualified earlier this month, both parties are now preparing their joint tender response, which is expected to be submitted at the end of March.
JinkoSolar and RWE said they were committed to the Middle East and firmly believed that Phase III of the project is an important milestone for the Emirate of Dubai and the entire region as a hub for renewable energies, as it will represent one of the largest photovoltaic power projects globally.
Dubai officially opened its third solar PV tender in September. The 800 MW will be added to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is aiming to reach 3 GW by 2030. Commissioning of the 800 MW is expected to begin in 2018.
RWE last week also signed a memorandum of understanding with DEWA aimed at achieving better cooperation in renewable energy research and development for Dubai.
