Solar-Fabrik delivers 6 MW to repower German PV power plant

The opportunities presented by secondary markets in countries with established installed PV capacity continue to become clear. The latest signal of this trend comes in the form of 6 MW supply deal for Solar-Fabrik.

The Solar-Fabrik modules will be supplied to a German solar farm that was grid connected back in 2010 and is managed by Densys PV5. Solar-Fabrik will supply its Professional 60 polycrystalline modules to repower the array.

“Due to the prior good experience with Solar-Fabrik we chose their premium quality modules for this project,” said Steffen Binzel, General Manager Sales at Densys PV5. Densys provides turnkey PV power plant solutions, including modules, inverters and mounting systems. It invests in power plant projects through a related company.

Solar industry insiders believe there is a considerable market opportunity in countries such as Italy and Germany for the repowering of underperforming solar assets. In times when FITs were dramatically reduced in these markets, arrays were often hastily constructed and shortages of quality components were widely reported.

The modules in this recent Solar-Fabrik supply deal will be manufactured in Wismar, Germany.

Solar-Fabrik filed for insolvency last month and is currently undergoing restructuring.
