Worth 6 million, the order includes both an equipment and a technology package. The German company explained that in terms of the equipment, it will be supplying production systems "based exclusively on proprietary products for the process stages of antireflective coating, diffusion and firing".
Meanwhile, the technology package is said to include all key services, ranging from project management, via the ramping up of the complete production line, through to process optimization.
"This first major order confirms that we have taken the right course with our strategic realignment in the turnkey business," stated Dietmar Roth, CEO of Roth & Rau AG. "We have significantly reduced our risks in this area, thus creating a basis for profitably exploiting our turnkey expertise."
The company went on to say that new orders worth a total of around 27 million were signed at the 5th SNEC PV, held in Shanghai at the end of February. It added that it also received letters of intent for orders worth a further 52.5 million. In a statement, the company explained: "The success of the second generation of SiNA systems has been driven in particular by their operating costs, which are significantly more favourable than those offered by competitors products."
