At 220 kilowatts peak, the system is said to represent Australias largest BIPV project to date.
The modules, which are located on the stadiums inner rim, were installed by Stowe Australia, in cooperation with stadium building contractor, Watpac. Designer of the stadium, Popolous, meanwhile, integrated them into his design.
The BIPV paneling is five meters wide and spread across an area of 450 meters. Overall, the modules are expected to generate 20 percent of the stadiums annual energy consumption.
"After a few smaller BIPV projects, the Carrara Stadium is now looked upon as a starting point for building integrated solar in Australia," said Scheuten in a statement released.
