JinkoSolar claims new 22.04% efficiency record

Fraunhofer ISE Germany confirmed the company’s claim. JinkoSolar last claimed the same record one year ago, with a conversion efficiency of 21.63%. It made its newest multi-crystalline cell on a boron-doped mc-Si substrate, with advanced texturing, passivation and anti-LID technologies integrated into the passivated emitter rear contact (PERC) structure, according to an online statement.

Dr. Jin Hao, vice president of JinkoSolar, described the achievement as a new “guideline” for higher-efficiency offerings. “The entire manufacturing chain is comprised of low-cost industrial processes and will be gradually transferred into mass production,” Hao said. “Leveraging our high-efficiency solar cells, we will continue to develop advanced manufacturing techniques to reduce the cost of PV products.”

In September, Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) rated JinkoSolar as the most “bankable” PV module supplier out of 52 manufacturers. The company had an annual PV module production capacity of 7.5 GW by the end of June.
