GCL Technology says revenue hit CNY 8.86 billion ($1.3 billion) in the first half of 2024, with a gross loss of CNY 553 million, while Xinte Energy says it recorded CNY 11.74 billion of revenue and a net loss of CNY 887.02 million for the first six months of the year.

Researchers in Morocco have carefully configured and tested a novel desert solar module optimized for harsh desert climates.  The new design delivered a 5.8% improvement in performance ratio, a 1.95% increase in efficiency, and reduced temperature sensitivity by 0.85% compared to standard modules.

A European consortium of commercial and research groups is developing lighter weight, solar-powered, cost-conscious, three and four-wheel prototype vehicles for passengers and cargo. U.S. researchers have applied robotics and automation to perovskite material discovery for use in tandem perovskite solar cell technologies. The robotic platform is multifunctional, able to mix precursors, perform spin coating, annealing and characterization of the optoelectronic thin films.

Researchers in Morocco have examined the effects of an anti-reflective coating on solar panel performance under desert conditions and have found that it enhanced both the annual performance ratio and the energy yield by 2% and 5.5%, respectively. They have also found it to be durable and able to withstand dry cleaning methods under accelerated testing.

German research group Helmholtz Association hopes to speed up the adoption of flexible printed solar PV technologies by transferring advances in the lab to industry through its growing Solar TAP initiative.

Researchers at City University of Hong Kong have developed a monolithic perovskite-organic tandem solar cell with a wide-bandgap subcell that reportedly provides “remarkable” stability. The tandem device achieved one of the highest efficiencies ever reported for this type of solar cell technology.
