France launches 700 MW tender for large-scale PV

Solar project developers in France will have until June 25, 2021, to submit their bids. Under new rules, the selected PV projects must use modules manufactured with a low carbon footprint.

Croatia announces 400 MW renewables auction

The procurement exercise will be the country’s second attempt to support large-scale solar and wind. The first 88 MW auction launched last year saw the allocation of just 25.5 MW. Solar secured 13.4 MW at an average price of $0.093/kWh. Selected PV projects range in size from 50 to 500 kW.

Israel reveals bidders for 300 MW solar-plus-storage tender in Negev Desert

The Israeli authorities have selected 24 bidders for the tender’s final phase. Construction of the solar-plus-storage facility is planned for late 2021, and completion in 2023.

Kenyan utility seeks proposals for PV plant at water treatment site

The tender was launched by Nyahururu Water and Sanitation Company (Nyahuwasco), which operates in the Laikipia West sub-county of Laikipia County, in central Kenya.

Hungary’s second renewables auction concludes with lowest bid of $0.0549/kWh

The auction has been significantly oversubscribed and has seen 36 successful projects among 257 submitted. Around 390 GWh of power was contracted and will be provided exclusively by PV projects.

Augwind’s compressed air tech for renewables storage

Augwind CEO Or Yogev recently spoke to pv magazine about the Israeli company’s new storage solution for the renewables sector. The underground compressed-air storage specialist recently secured 166 MWh of capacity in Israel’s latest solar+storage tender, and plans to take equity stakes in all five projects.

India’s 6.4 GW solar auction concludes with final price of $0.034/kWh

The Andhra Pradesh solar auction was oversubscribed by 8.5 GW. Final prices are significantly higher than the record-low tariffs achieved in other recent auctions in the country.

Russia to tender 500 MW of solar in 2021

The country’s cumulative installed PV capacity reached 1.7 GW at the end of 2019, as a result of the grid-connected projects tendered by the Russian government between 2014 and 2019. The remaining 500 MW quota of the 2.2 GW tendering scheme should be assigned this year.

Kenya launches tender to add solar to 22 diesel mini-grids

Kenyan utility KPLC wants to retrofit 23 diesel mini-grids by adding wind and solar power generators. PV is the only option available for 21 of the selected sites.

India’s NTPC tenders 735 MW of solar capacity

Bidders have until Feb. 22 to express interest in NTPC’s latest PV tender. The state-owned power producer will offer solar capacity in three blocks of 245 MW at the Nokh Solar Park in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
