Belgium: Flemish government supports floating PV to the tune of €4.1 million

After providing €2 million for two projects in October, the government of Flanders has now selected six more floating PV projects totaling 11.1 MW, which are planned to be built with public support.

Floating PV conquers two new countries

This time, the countries revealing their first floating PV plans are Albania and the Ivory Cost. In the first, a 12.9 MW plant is being proposed by local hydropower producer KESH, while in the second, the local government has secured funds for what it claims will be Africa’s first floating PV array.

Sunseap to build 5 MW floating PV at sea

Singapore seeks proposal for 100 MW of floating PV

Singapore’s Economic Development Board has issued a request for information related to the potential deployment of a large-scale floating solar system to generate energy for private sector consumption.

Global operational floating PV capacity tops 1.1 GW

The World Bank says floating PV has the potential for 400 GW of capacity – under conservative assumptions. The authors of a World Bank study say adding floating solar to hydropower plants improves their flexibility while increasing energy yields.

Belgium’s Flemish government makes first investment in floating PV

The Floating PV NV company has secured €2m for a floating solar plant on a site owned by Belgian raw material provider Sibelco. The funding is part of a €6m plan to support floating PV in Flanders.

Floating PV to splashdown in Vietnam

A 47.5 MW floating solar power plant is being planned by Vietnamese hydropower producer Da Mi, a unit of Vietnamese power utility Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), at one of its water reservoirs in the south of the country. The Asian Development Bank is now considering financing the project. Meanwhile, Sharp has announced the completion of a 48 MW ground-mounted PV facility in the Eastern Asian country.
