The €103.5 million project is expected to be built by OMV Petrom with 175,214 solar panels with a power output of 485 W each, and 424 string inverters with a capacity of 185 kVA.

The 153 MW Ratesti PV project was acquired by Israel-based independent power producer Nofar Energy. The facility will be located in the Arges county, in southern Romania.

The scheme is expected to be issued within 18 months. According to law firm Schoenherr Romania, there is a growing appetite for large-scale solar projects in the country among investors.

Romanian manufacturer Karpat Solar has acquired a 100 MW panel production line from Spanish provider Mondragon. The manufacturing facility will be located in Transylvania.

A group of international investors is planning to build a 700 MW solar plant in Arad, in western Romania.

The Romanian government has changed the rules of the Casa Verde Fotovoltaice (green PV home) scheme to support residential solar installations under the country’s net metering regime. The new provisions improve the installation process and settlement of rebate payments.

The government will grant rebates to residential PV projects and may cover up to 90% of the costs of purchasing and deploying a rooftop array.

Romanian petroleum transport services provider Conpet announced plans to install PV plants across five of its facilities. Initial investment will be limited to 3 million ROL ($680,000), but the group aims to create a renewable energy business unit under its 2020-2025 strategy.

Complexul Energetic Oltenia, a Romanian coal-fired power producer, plans to build 310 MW of PV capacity across four sites at one of its facilities. The projects are part of the company’s restructuring efforts and decarbonization plan.
