SMA’s Home Solutions segment was particularly badly hit as the PV inverter manufacturer struggled to meet the demand due to the shortage of materials. The sales and results in the first half of 2022 were therefore significantly worse than in 2021. The company now wants to take “a series of measures to improve its long-term ability to deliver.”

Chinese solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has listed all inverter producers that in the past weeks have unveiled new devices or upgraded products for solar panels based on 210mm silicon wafers. Huawei, Sineng, Sungrow, SMA, GoodWe, Ginlong, and Kstar have all reportedly launched or are planning to launch centralized or string inverters that may better cope with bigger and more powerful panels.

Despite the Corona pandemic, SMA Solar was able to significantly improve its financial results over the past year and has met its 2020 forecasts. Overall, the German PV company has installed more than 100 GW of solar inverter power globally.

The two PV companies have outlined how competitive value creation in Germany and Europe can succeed. This would also be important in order to preserve technologies and innovations in this country. Meyer Burger and SMA make four specific proposals in which they have an eye on both the generation of solar power and the manufacture of the photovoltaic products required for this.
