Acme Solar wins 446MW

Acme's solar extension Acme Solar has managed to win 446MW in PV tenders in the southern Indian state of Telangana. At INR5.84 (US$0.09) per kWh, the company plans to develop solar PV projects in 18 sites across Telangana. With this major sweep, Acme has managed to take about 22% of the planned 2,000MW tender, making it one of the biggest winners.

According to Indian media The Economic Times, ACME Group founder & chairman Manoj Upadhyay said, "After winning over 22% of the total 2,000 MW i.e. 446 MW, we have emerged as the largest solar power player in distributed power generation".

The 2,000MW Telangana tender is being distributed by state utilities Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSPDCL) and Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSNPDCL). SkyPower made news yesterday by giving the lowest bid at $0.08/kWh. Other major winners according to Reuters appear to be Suzlon Energy from India and SunEdison.
