The company is responsible for the planning, site management and construction of the project, which is located on the property of Italian logistics group, Altmann. It is being built on behalf of CIC PV Project Piadena KG der CIC Italia GmbH & Co., a project company held by Solarwatt PV Italia GmbH. Once completed, the carport will reportedly be one of the largest of its kind in the world.??

Around 24,700 Solarwatt crystalline photovoltaics modules are expected to be installed on four individual surface areas, which will form the roof of the roughly 13,000 square meter carport, while SMA will supply inverters. Once completed, it is expected to provide enough space for around 6,000 new cars.

Ulrich Reidenbach, chief sales officer of Phoenix Solar stated: “We view the dual function of solar carports as a future-oriented business segment where we have already strongly positioned ourselves through the megawatt carport completed this year in Berlin and this new carport.”
