Suntech unveils high-efficiency module for Israel

The module is comprised of six-inch black square cells which are claimed to have a strong resistance to light-induced degradation. The 300W Vd is aimed at the rooftop installation market where weight, power and aesthetics are key considerations.

Suntech developed the modules using its hybrid wafter manufacturing process that aims to combine the high efficiency of monocrystalline wafers with the cost-effectiveness and reliability of polycrystalline wafers.

The company also claims that as during ingot production less energy is needed, therefore the modules reduce energy payback time by almost one-third.

In a statement announcing the new module’s release, Suntech’s James Hu reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the Israeli market. "Israel's excellent solar resources make solar power a viable and highly cost competitive energy solution that can help the country move towards energy independence."

Last week Suntech also released two modules for the U.S., Canadian and Latin American markets: the 245W HiPerforma multicrystalline module for residential, commercial and utility scale installations and the 290W Vd Series specifically for utility scale application. Both products were on display at Intersolar North America last week.
